Weekend Explosion!!!

Well, well, well...lol...where do I start?! lol The next phase in the construction was to put in the plumbing for the new bathroom...which would have just been a new clean out, and a new drain stack which is the basic of this picture, just not the tall pipe...anyways, it SHOULD have been just the first picture...but...
but it turned into all of this...LOL...I'll explain....
ok, so Tom started busting up the concrete and digging up the dirt in the basement, and couldn't find what he was looking for, so he dug some more, like a total of 16-18 inches deep, and realized that the drain pipe that he wanted to tie into was a clay pipe that someone else had already messed up before because they had broken the top half off and stuck some other pipes in there and tried to repair it w/concrete, which you can sorta see in this picture, on the right side you can sorta see its clay and on the left side of the picture you can tell its concrete...
He accidentally broke through the pipe in this spot...
This is the concrete and stone pieces that they used to cover up the holes that were still left after they shoved the other pipes in, what a mess!
So After several conversations with Tom's brother Luke(who is a plumber, which came in handy) unfortunately he lives in Wisconsin though...lol...they came up with a plan of what to do...so 10 hours later, 6 trips to 3 different home stores, $250 down the drain, literally hahaha :) Tom says he has several things to return though, so he will get some of that money back but still....oh and add SEVERAL injuries to that list, and we are STILL not done LOL....still need to make a permanent connection in the back corner to the kitchen, and build on the new stuff to the bathroom, lol...
ok, so moving on...injuries, yes injuries LOL, just let me add first that I was gone all day, so Tom was here alone, which I was nervous about, with any home project, but I was reassured that most of it was just going to be gluing pvc pipes together, so it should be "no big deal" hahahaha :) well he was trying to cut a piece of pvc pipe on the miter saw...the first cut went somewhat ok...the second piece however, he got about halfway through the cut, and he was thinking back to a magazine article he had read about cutting round things on a miter saw, and how you have to take extra precautions, right about then, the pipe exploded, which ended up busting his lip, a scrap/bruise on one arm and a gash on the other arm...all at the same time...but you should see the pipe! LOL :) anyways, Luke told me to advise Tom to stay away from saws lol, at least saws and pvc pipes together! So anyways, then he bandaged himself up(sorta, lol, i wish i had a picture of the 'bandage' i saw) went back downstairs to get back to work, and tried to cut a pvc pipe w/a reciprocating saw, which made a 4 inch piece of pipe into a curly fry...lol...and bent the saw blade at the same time, he grabbed the blade to remove it from the saw, and a few seconds later it sets into his brain that he is holding a hot piece of metal, so he threw it down and stepped back and fell into the trench he had dug up...lol, then steps back up out of the trench, and bangs his freshy gashed elbow into his drill press...LOL that all was within like 5-10 min.!! what a day, huh?!
Me on the other hand, was shopping at a mall, w/my mother in law and sister in law...I feel bad for Tom that he went through all that, but I'm glad he is ok, it could have been a whole lot worse, especially with the exploding pipe incident...but I've learned my lesson...never leave Tom at home alone w/saws and pvc pipes...haha, just kidding :)
