8 feet??

Ok, so I am having a blast with this blog giveaway, thanks to you all for entering, keep the word going, maybe we can get some more names in the game...I have loved hearing from all the new people, thanks for all your comments! Ok, so now on to my story....

So...we recently bought a new truck. Originally, we were going to get a cheap under $1,000 truck, just to get back and forth to Menards, Home Depot, etc...because to be honest...we are tired of being stuffed in the car with a pile of 8 foot long boards, or driving all over town to borrow a truck or van to get plywood, or drywall....but then we were hit upside the head with one of those 8 foot long 2x4's ( ok, so not really) BUT we woke up one day and said wait a min...who are we kidding, all the under $1,000 trucks we have found are old and have problems...we don't know much more about cars than to check the oil and washer fluid, and that might be stretching it...lol...oh we do know how to change wiper blades, well Tom does, which he did this weekend on our car, but anyways...so we re-evaluated and decided, we better look for something more in the 2005 range or so, and the lower the miles the better. So now that we had the year range determined we started talking about what other things we wanted in the truck. Did we need the regular cab, crew cab, quad cab, long bed, regular bed, short bed???? Ford, Dodge, Chevy??? Lets just say we learned  ALOT about trucks in the last few weeks, things we never knew, and also now when we drive down the road, we notice EVERY truck, and Tom can even pretty much tell you what year it is...lol....

So first we decided we needed an 8 foot bed, that would make it easier to get 2x4s, plywood and drywall...but then slowly, I started to get wrapped up in the details and really wanted the 4 door quad cab, but then we would have to sacrifice the 8 foot bed. But then we went to bed one night and I said, no wait..we need to get back to the basics of WHY we wanted this truck to begin with, which was for the home stores, so back to the main priority being the 8 foot bed...anyways, this is getting really long...bare with me...

Needless to say, I decided to search again, being that it was now a Monday morning and all. We came across an ad for a 2008 Ford F150 regular cab with the long 8 ft bed, with a nice bedliner in it and in our price range. We first thought, "yeah, right" because it only had 20,000 miles on it...there must have been some typo with the price or something, but we called the dealership, and it was correct! So of course we went and drove it that night, and bought it later that week. It had been their parts truck so when they had to travel to another dealership or something to get a part, they would take that truck. There was a small baseball size dent in the front bumper but they fixed it, and she is good as new. Needless to say, she BARELY fits in our garage lol...and yes I said she...I will have to explain that as well in a min....

but here's the main part of this story, which is rather funny....so we think we are all cool now, have a new truck, going to go to Menards and get drywall to finish out the basement stairway...and some wood too. Go in, get it, come out, the kid helps tom load it, tom goes to close the tailgate, and it won't close...the drywall is just a TAD too long. Tom says oh we didn't get it pushed all the way back when we put it in, so lets take it out and reload it, so they do...still won't work...so we drove home with the tailgate down and the wood and drywall strapped in place...Guess the bedliner takes out a 1/2 inch at the front and the back, cuz the bed with the liner measures 95 inches...what is 8 ft...96 inches! yep! So it was kinda funny, but Tom said its not a big deal, don't want to take the liner out, and we have a flat waterproof cover for the back now that will keep it nice as well.

So the explaination of calling the truck "she." Tom said the other day he thought he should name his truck and since its so pretty it should be a girls name. Oh I forgot to mention, the truck is navy blue, and then the trim is black...so anyways, one morning Tom said I know what we are going to name the truck...I said whats that....he said..."Rihanna" I said huh?! he said because the truck is black and blue..get it?! lol ok, so he thought it was funny... :)

Another Card

I forgot to post the picture of the Anniversary card I made and sent to my parents, so here it is....

Update

We are alive...lol we had a great valentines day. Tom got me some flowers, a nice card and surprised me with a present. It was a bigger xyron sticker maker! :) I have the small little X one but this is the 5 inch one...any scrapbookers or card makers know what I'm talking about, and I made homemade breakfast, we went to a movie of Tom's choice, and he got his beloved popcorn as well lol and then I made meatloaf, homemade mashed potatoes and veggies for dinner and we ate by candlelight and had some ice cream cupcakes from Coldstone. Yum! It was a great day and weekend!

Tom is still working on building the new basement stairs, hopefully soon, they will be done, but its a much bigger project than expected, well than I expected, not sure about Tom but anyways, he is doing a great job, and it will be so great to have a finished stairway instead of the previous state it was in. I don't think I ever explained the state of our old basement stairs...well lets say they were old, and weak, and one day I heard "CRASH!" and I yelled, "ARE YOU OK?!!" and Tom says, oh yeah, I just fell through a stair....and then from then on out, when going down the stairs, you either had to step on the very edge or skip the step, so you didn't fall through as well lol I guess he did put a new board over it eventually, but still, it was BAD! And now we will also have finished, painted walls, no more yucky, uneven, cobwebby limestone foundation...YAY! Can't wait till one day we get to finish the entire basement, that will be REALLY cool! but for now, the stairs is huge progress!

Well seems like there were other things to blog about, but I guess not for now...I've been THINKING about having a blog giveaway, seems like something fun...any ideas? I see all sorts of cute things people give away...and I've been racking my brain for something cool, and fun to get you all involved...and pull the quiet ones from the darkness...so please feel free to leave some ideas... :) I'll be back later this week. Have a great week!!

Valentines decorations

I was trying to think of something to make as a nice table centerpiece, valentines themed, and decided to make this:

It is just a styrofoam circle and then red and white roses. I bought it all at the dollar store! the roses came in bunches of 6 or 7 or so, I think it cost around $10, or a little less, and then I have a mirror to set in the middle of it and then I will put a pillar candle in the center. I will take pictures of it on Valentines, but the candles I need are in storage in the basement and since Tom is still working on the stairs to the basement I will have to go outside and around lol, another time :) And also if I want to change it up next year, I can tie a long, large ribbon around it and hang it on a door or something.
So then I had some roses leftover so I thought of this idea:
I ended up having to go get 2 more bunches of roses, but anyways...so all I did is bought a 5inch square block of styrofoam and cut it in 3 pieces that were about 1 1/2 inches thick because I glued the cream ribbon around the edges to get a more finished look, and I used a 1 1/2 inch ribbon. Then just glued the roses in, put them together with ribbon and tada! lol I think it cost me around $6-$8 or so... and both of them were super easy as well...the pictures are a bit dark, but it was easier to see that way than being blasted with white light or something lol

Kids Birthday Cards

These are the cards I made last week, nothing much really, but anyways the cars/trains/trucks one is for my nephew who will turn 2 on the 22nd, and the pink one is for my best friend's daughter who will turn 3 on the 19th...

Cards

This is for Dana, and whoever cares to know...but she recently posted a question asking if I have any cards I have made recently, and yes, I do have a few, but I want to wait to post them till the people who they are for receive them, but since 2 of the cards are for a 2 yr old and a 3 yr old, I don't think they will care if I post pictures of those lol so I will post those soon :)

I will also be posting pictures of a valentines decoration I made, with dollar store supplies, and its so pretty, just have to go back to the store tomorrow and get one more thing I forgot, but its gonna be great! :) lol

Thats all for now!

In a Slump

Nothing much is new here, we are still alive....despite the lack of blogging. I have kinda been in a slump lately...I don't know, just kinda bored with life, and like my niece said yesterday...there are worse things than being bored, which is so true! :) Today WILL be better than the last few, it has to happen, no questions about it, I can't take another day of feeling the same way...so anyways...

As far as the whole remodeling thing.....the walls are painted, but no woodwork or anything yet, so it will be awhile until I post those pictures, just to save a step. The bigger deal is that we have no basement stairs! lol no worries, we have an outside entrance, but still, Tom is working on cleaning up the foundation in the basement and repainting it with some waterproof sealant paint stuff, then building a stud wall off of the foundation, and then rebuilding the stairs...which will eventually, way down the road lead to us finishing the entire basement.

Well thats all for now...I'm hoping that this week gets better...praying that you all have a great week as well! :)
