FINALLY!!! Laundry project revealed!!

Well folks, we are finally here! lol I am finally posting pictures. Quite a bit delayed, yes, but here they are! I have been helping Tom tape, and mud the new drywall and then painting it last night and tonight, so thats why its taken me longer to get these posted....but here we go! Oh and I realized I didn't have any before pictures(stupid me) but it wasn't much of anything: particle board cupboard, nothing on the walls...no curtains anywhere...see told you... not much of anything :)

This first picture is the main overall picture, but I will break it all up piece by piece...so lets get started...

This is the curtain that goes in front of our washer and dryer. We just bought a basic shower rod, and the cheap $1 metal shower curtain hooks, and then I had the fabric, and sewed the curtain and put some large eyelets in the top(see pic below)

This is the curtain tied back, just put a hook in the wall and bought a rope in the fabric department at Walmart for $2 that already had 2 loops on either end that was already green.

Here you can see the rod, hooks and the eyelets
This is the brown strip at the bottom, which is actually a brown sheet I got on clearance for $3 at Walmart(don't mind my dirty floors)
This is the curtain I made for the shelves for my extra laundry soap and stuff. Same fabric, and used upolstry tacks to put it up.
Just a peek behind the curtain. This curtain is lined with the same brown sheet.

This is the laundry sign I made...I love it so much! Ok, so here is what I did...the frames are from the dollar store, they were gold and came with an easel in each package, but I painted them with brown paint, used white scrapbook paper and cut out letters with my Slice machine which is a die cutter scrapbook machine thing, and then glued all the letters together with green ribbon! :)
Up close...
This is the border we put up that I told you about in the last blog, hence the green wood behind it. Oh and I ended up using the "enchanted forest" paint. lol :)
It says "baskets of blessings, loads of fun, hands to work, hearts to God" :)

This is the top decorative shelf

Another view of the top shelf

The brackets that hold up the decorative shelf, just wood brackets from Menards, painted brown
Starting from the left, back corner are some green bottles, from a dollar store for $1/each...

Next in front of the green bottles are some green roses, not that you can see it, but they are in a brown pot. the roses were in a bunch of flowers from the dollar store for $1, and the pot, was in a pack of 3 at the dollar store for $1, and then I painted it brown. Here is the view standing up, even though they are laying down on the shelf.

In front of the green roses is a square glass container, that actually at the dollar store it says it was a candle holder, but either way, and then I bought clothes pins and painted some of them...

Next is the basket in the back center. I already had the basket with a different liner I got at a garage sale for 50 cents I think, then I just sewed a new liner for it to match the other fabric...and then its standing up on its end

In front of the basket is the same as the other clothes pins, just these are old fashioned clothes pins

Then on the far right, is a candle and candle holder both from the dollar store, once again $1/each, and then I just put a ribbon around it.

Moving on too the shelf below the decorative one....

another view...
These bottles hold my soap, fabric softner, etc. the 2 big bottles I got off of freecycle and once again the 3 green bottles are the same as above, from the dollar store.
This was a votive holder from the dollar store, and I just tied some ribbon around it, and I use it as the cup to pour the soap and stuff in.
This is the garbage can for the lint from the dryer! I love this! just a tan $2.50 garbage can from WalMart, with some ribbon tied around it, and the cute "bling" in the middle has 2 metal belt loops through the back of it, and I found it in the fabric/craft section at WalMart on clearance for $1.25!!
Up close...

So that is all! Let me know what you think...its been fun, but I am glad to move on to something else :)

Sneak Peak, and Free Paint!

ok, so here's the deal on this "project" of mine...most everything is done, but after reviewing the pictures with my mom(who is an amazing decorator as a lot of you know) we both agreed I needed something on the wall and settled on the idea of a border. Thing is my husband has an addiction to adding sand texture to paint,(says it hides imperfections well or something lol) which makes it impossible to adhere wallpaper or border to it, unless you like the lumpy version. :) So we decided to cut some pieces of 1/4 inch mdf to screw into the wall and then put the border on that, and paint the wood green so it adds some green further up. You will understand when I show you the pictures...lol I hope. So needless to say, I thought oh we have green paint downstairs, no problem...well I was wrong, sort of. We have some leftover green paint from our living room...but...it has texture in it. yup, ok, not going to work. So I posted on our local freecycle group asking for some, long story short, that was basically another dead end. So I was really hoping to be able to find some cheap mistint paint, which I'm sure most of you know, but if not, anywhere they sell paint, except Menards(I don't know why they don't) but sells their mistint paint for sometimes $1, $5 or 50% off! So next time you go to WalMart, Home Depot, Lowes look for their mistint paint. Ok, so anyways, I needed to go to Sherwin Williams because we are painting the new drywall in the middle room(you know, the other half of the bathroom project, the new closet and entrance to the basement), I'll post pictures of that next week when its painted, but anyways, I needed to go to Sherwin Willams to get...you guessed it...sand texture...ugh...anyways, so I asked to see their mistint paint(which I guess you have to do at Sherwin Williams because its in the back) and they had a small quart of a softer green, and a gallon that had drippings all down the side and only had a 3rd or so of the paint left in it, but it was called Enchanted Forest, and I really liked them both, but thought the Enchanted Forest would work best, so I said how much is this one(the messy one) she said oh you can have it, its not even our brand of paint, so i couldn't sell it to you if I wanted to..lol...YES! FREE! so then I asked about the second one, and she said $2, so I got them both! I was super excited...I started experimenting by mixing a little of them both together, but I think I will end up just using the Enchanted Forest, the free one, but we'll see...I will let you know which one I chose for sure, when I post the pictures...

Speaking of pictures...I am hoping this paint will dry quickly and that Tom will be available to put the wood up for me, so I can hang the border and still post the pictures tonight, but it might not be till tomorrow, but soon, I promise...lol but for now...I decided I would give you a small sneak peak :)

Oh this sneak peak stuff is fun! I could drag this out for at least another week...lol just kidding! I'll be back soon...hopefully with pictures!

missing brain cells

lol ok so maybe not "missing brain cells" but I have been spray painting things for my laundry project all day. Needless to say, we decided the best option to have ventilation was to set up a tarp in the doorway in our kitchen and turn on a couple fans and put up the screen on the screen door, crazy I know but I think I am finally done(almost) lol the house smells, but not near as bad as it would if the door wasn't open. And for the record, I feel fine,(just a little cold) so I don't think I am missing any brain cells or even fringed the ends of them either :) lol I will HOPEFULLY be posting the final project pictures tomorrow or Friday...so check back, cuz its going to be GREAT! lol I love the way things have already turned out...and I'm not even done yet! :)

the first one was obviously the one for Britt, she loves purple. :) and then the one for my dad, and made it to look like a shirt. ok, so anyways, thats all for now I guess.

Misc.

We are really enjoying this long weekend! With Christmas money we went and bought a Wii, Wii Fit, Wii game play, and a Monopoly game for it as well.(oh and a pink silicone cover for my wiimote and nunchuck too :) lol Needless to say, we haven't went to bed till 2am or so every night lol but we are having fun! We have been working on some organizing projects, and Tom is finishing up a bathroom cabinet for above the toilet in the upstairs bathroom, I will post pictures later when its done...but even though I am enjoying this time, but I am looking forward to getting back to the routine. I have a list of projects I am looking forward too. I need to make a curtain to go in front of our washer and dryer, and am thinking about some other decorating/organizing things in the laundry area. Then I need to make the matching valance for our living room curtains. I can not even tell you how long we have had one valance up in our living, which is pitiful! lol I don't know what else I will do, but I am really thinking about decorating, and sewing and fun stuff lately! :)

As well as this stuff, I need a new fresh blog...I need something to blog about, I'm kinda bored and getting tired of the same old boring "this is what we did today" post. lol I don't have any ideas yet, but something has GOT to change :) anyways, off to find some more thrifty decoration ideas!!!
