I love a good deal!!!

So like I said before, on Saturday, I went to a bunch of garage sales, well when I was done in the afternoon, I decided to stop by ShareStuff, its a thrift store, run by volunteers, started by our church, in the same building, i think i've explained this before lol anyways, I found a really cool shabby chic pillow, and then remembered that the big stuff part on the other end of the building that has furniture, and all the bigger stuff was open...that part is only open on saturdays because of remodeling and even last saturday it was closed, so I hadn't been in a very long while...well anyways, I was browsing, the only one even in the store, I thought it was closing, looked at my cell phone, nope, still had another 2 hours or so lol..anyways...I found this brown box, and opened it up, and realized it is a BEAUTIFUL outside porch light, house light, whatever...and its brand new, put together, but still in the box, and i found the tag and it said $3!!! YIPEE...now if i could only find another one, since we have 2 front porch lights, one on either side of the door...Tom and I had been making a list of things to spruce up our house on the outside, since we are putting most of the money into the inside w/the new bathroom and stuff, we wont be painting the house this year, or whatever, so we had decided that new lights would be on the list, and had looked at them at all the home stores, and decided on some cheap $20/each, lights...were nice, but didn't have to fork over our entire life savings to light the porch lol...cuz they had ones that are soo pretty, and would look fantastic on our porch, but HELLO, $$$$$ LOL anyways...back to my story at the sharestuff store...so I look around and not only do I find ONE more...I found THREE more!!! SWEET!! and the other 3 were not even put together still in the plastic and everything...all were still $3/each...so walked out of there with 4 outside lights, for $12...NOW the cool part...so I put them all together when I got home to make sure all the parts were there and stuff, they were, nothing broken, etc...so then yesterday, we were at Lowes, and found similar ones like the ones I got, for $40, and then another one that looked similar for $140...but last night I looked up online and found the exact one at home depot, and they are nearly $100/EACH!! so I paid $12 for $400 worth of lighting...very exciting!! lol, there were other cool deals too, but that was the best one...here is the link of the light...at home depot, but its the same ones...

Beautiful rainbows...

we were on the way home tonight and it was dark and raining on one side, and bright and sunny on the other side...and I looked over and saw 2 rainbows, one really bright and the other lighter, then realized, they were both FULL rainbows!! so beautiful!!! so i was trying to get home to take a picture and realized as we turned the corner, it looked like the rainbows were right over our house, SOO cool!! anyways...this picture was all I was able to get :(...it was disappearing very quickly...just wanted to share :) I will post more later about our weekend!!!

Ok here are pictures of our spare bedroom, and my scrapbooking desk is finally clean!! YAY!! lol Before the walls were just plain white, nothing special lol and my desk was a mess!

This is the original duvet cover pattern, I love it, I hope I can find somewhere else to use it, otherwise my mom can use it...
Not a great picture, but this is another view of the spare room, and the new color

Stupid Internet!!

Ok, so I have been gone for awhile again, but this time, I have a lot of good reasons! first of all, i have been really busy, then it was my birthday, and my parents were here, and on top of that, the internet wasn't working...on my computer only...OF COURSE! so i was using tom's computer to check email and stuff, but thats it! so anyways, i've got so much to blog about! lol so here we go...

I got the spare bedroom painted, and we got it all set up. Tom had built a box frame to put the mattress on, which we still needed to buy...so we went to a local furniture store, and its actually a funny story! the day before we went in, i had made some phone calls to several stores here in town, and when i called the store we ended up at, they said they had 2 king size mattress in their "oops" department, one for $139, and one for $149, which was a really good price, so we went there, and the lady was telling us that the mattress was like $350 or something like that, so i told her the day before i had called and talked to someone, and that they had told us the other prices, she said oh ok, well i can sell you this one for $139, and then a couple others for other prices, but the $139 mattress is REALLY nice!!! its a king size Vera Wang mattress, and is the most comfortable bed! lol Really a great deal! ok, so then the next thing, i had bought a REALLY pretty shabby chic duvet cover at goodwill for $3.29!! i was SO excited, then got a king size down comforter at target and thought I was set, until I went to put the comforter into the duvet, and realized it was a QUEEN!!! GRRRR but it worked for the weekend anyways. So I will have to take new pictures, cuz the ones I will post in a bit have the queen duvet on it still, but i'll explain how i got a new one in a min. lol...

Ok so my parents came for the weekend, for my birthday, so saturday we went to A TON of garage sales, jcpenny outlet, and sharestuff which is a REALLY nice thrift store run by our church and all the money goes to sharefest which is when our church and several other churches get together and fix up the city's public schools...ANYWAYS....so got lots of cool stuff at garage sales and all that, and at sharestuff we I found a king size Nautica duvet with the bedskirt, pillow shams and 3 throw pillows for $25, looks brand new, and its really nice! so that is the new one, its not on the bed yet, but we have it...anyways, we had a fun weekend, busy, but lots of fun!

Seems like there is more I should be blogging about, but eh, I don't remember it now, so I will post some pictures, and off to bed for now...

MIA

ok, so i know i've been missing lately lol been super busy and mean to blog every day but run out of time lol...i planted a bunch of pretty flowers outside, tried to take some pictures, but its too dark, hopefully tomorrow....I also have been painting our spare bedroom today, hope to be done w/that tomorrow, since the new mattress is being delivered tomorrow afternoon lets hope its ready! lol my birthday is friday, i can't believe i will be 24 years old...to be completely honest, not to be a downer, but its kinda bittersweet...not AT ALL where I thought I would be at 24, but just proves that life is God's plan, not ours...how hard that is sometimes!!! My parents are coming this weekend, which will be nice to get to hang out w/them and go to garage sales and stuff like that! Some more good news is that i have lost about 30 lbs or so now, in 2 months or so...so thats exciting! Let's see...no more new progress on the plumbing and remodel project...been working on the yard some, takin a break, and working on the spare bedroom too...last week i cleaned my kitchen top to bottom and organized my cabinets and got rid of a bunch of stuff, yesterday I cleaned up my linen closet and got rid of a bunch more stuff, i love summer, makes me want to do even more! lol I shocked my neighbor yesterday, when at like 8am he left for work i was on the porch planting flowers, and he did a double take and said "up early?" lol YEP! I LOVE it! anyways...i will hopefully post pictures of my flowers tomorrow. Anyways, for now, i need to get to bed, because I need to be up early again tomorrow to finish the painting!

Father's Day gifts

Ok, so I know all of you have been patiently waiting for me to post the pictures of what I made for my dad for Father's day...LOL what all 5 of you...haha, just kidding, anyways, here they are!

This is the front of it, there are cookies inside...the sides and the back....
And the card...I had a lot of fun making them...but very time consuming lol :)

Busy, Busy, Busy!!!

Well, what a weekend!! lol it was so crazy, we were in Iowa for a family reunion...there were, including us, 7 people from out of town staying in my parents house, and then for meals we had a total of around 15 people! lol...it was a fun, loud, crowded, very hot, weekend....we got into town Friday night, and then Saturday was the reunion, Tom was mostly busy playing "bored games" LOL w/my cousins :) (and yes, I know I spelled that wrong, on purpose! lol) anyways, so while he was doing that I went to walmart on Saturday morning to get the things we were taking for food to the reunion...and just after I got home, I was talking to Britt on the phone and before I knew it she was outside my parents house...so that was a nice surprise! I got to chat w/her for awhile outside, and needless to say, later, come to find out, Tom was so engrossed in the games he didn't even know Britt and the girls had stopped by! Then a bit later we went out to the park for the reunion, and it was REALLY windy, but that was good, it made it not seem as hot as it really was...there wasn't near the amount of people that are normally there, which was kinda nice...my mom's cousin's daughter(got that?) has a 2 week old daughter, and I got to hold her the entire time, and feed her and all that, I really enjoyed that part :) We had planned on going over to Britt and Kelly's house, but didn't get home till nearly 5:30pm so we decided to postpone till Sunday afternoon on our way out of town...anyways, just had a very busy weekend...well and then Sunday there were a lot of bad storms in the area, so I was really nervous about driving home...thank the Lord, we only ended up having a few sprinkles here and there, which was nice!...it was good to see my cousins and stuff, but it is really nice to be back home again lol...

Back in the craft room!!

I have been back in my craft room, after a long time away from it, I finally had the desire to try to do some things...so I had won a heavy cardboard heart shaped box as a door prize at a scrapbook show...well here is the final product!

I also made a REALLY cool gift and card for my dad for Father's day, and I'm giving it to him this weekend, and then I will post pictures, so that way I won't spoil the surprise :)

Weekend Explosion!!!

Well, well, well...lol...where do I start?! lol The next phase in the construction was to put in the plumbing for the new bathroom...which would have just been a new clean out, and a new drain stack which is the basic of this picture, just not the tall pipe...anyways, it SHOULD have been just the first picture...but...
but it turned into all of this...LOL...I'll explain....
ok, so Tom started busting up the concrete and digging up the dirt in the basement, and couldn't find what he was looking for, so he dug some more, like a total of 16-18 inches deep, and realized that the drain pipe that he wanted to tie into was a clay pipe that someone else had already messed up before because they had broken the top half off and stuck some other pipes in there and tried to repair it w/concrete, which you can sorta see in this picture, on the right side you can sorta see its clay and on the left side of the picture you can tell its concrete...
He accidentally broke through the pipe in this spot...
This is the concrete and stone pieces that they used to cover up the holes that were still left after they shoved the other pipes in, what a mess!
So After several conversations with Tom's brother Luke(who is a plumber, which came in handy) unfortunately he lives in Wisconsin though...lol...they came up with a plan of what to do...so 10 hours later, 6 trips to 3 different home stores, $250 down the drain, literally hahaha :) Tom says he has several things to return though, so he will get some of that money back but still....oh and add SEVERAL injuries to that list, and we are STILL not done LOL....still need to make a permanent connection in the back corner to the kitchen, and build on the new stuff to the bathroom, lol...
ok, so moving on...injuries, yes injuries LOL, just let me add first that I was gone all day, so Tom was here alone, which I was nervous about, with any home project, but I was reassured that most of it was just going to be gluing pvc pipes together, so it should be "no big deal" hahahaha :) well he was trying to cut a piece of pvc pipe on the miter saw...the first cut went somewhat ok...the second piece however, he got about halfway through the cut, and he was thinking back to a magazine article he had read about cutting round things on a miter saw, and how you have to take extra precautions, right about then, the pipe exploded, which ended up busting his lip, a scrap/bruise on one arm and a gash on the other arm...all at the same time...but you should see the pipe! LOL :) anyways, Luke told me to advise Tom to stay away from saws lol, at least saws and pvc pipes together! So anyways, then he bandaged himself up(sorta, lol, i wish i had a picture of the 'bandage' i saw) went back downstairs to get back to work, and tried to cut a pvc pipe w/a reciprocating saw, which made a 4 inch piece of pipe into a curly fry...lol...and bent the saw blade at the same time, he grabbed the blade to remove it from the saw, and a few seconds later it sets into his brain that he is holding a hot piece of metal, so he threw it down and stepped back and fell into the trench he had dug up...lol, then steps back up out of the trench, and bangs his freshy gashed elbow into his drill press...LOL that all was within like 5-10 min.!! what a day, huh?!
Me on the other hand, was shopping at a mall, w/my mother in law and sister in law...I feel bad for Tom that he went through all that, but I'm glad he is ok, it could have been a whole lot worse, especially with the exploding pipe incident...but I've learned my lesson...never leave Tom at home alone w/saws and pvc pipes...haha, just kidding :)
